Andy Murray World number four Murray is gunning for his second Queen's title
Andy Murray moved into the semi-finals of the Aegon Championships at Queen's after Marin Cilic pulled out of Friday's quarter-final match with a knee injury without a ball being hit.
Scotland's second seed and world number four Murray was due out on Court One before Cilic pulled out just minutes before the players were due on court.
Murray will face now Andy Roddick for a place in the final.
Four-time Queen's winner Roddick eased past Fernando Verdasco 6-2 6-2.
The American third seed, who has looked in increasingly good form the longer the tournament has gone on at Queen's, overcame a rain delay at 6-2 3-1 to cruise into the semi-finals.
And with his serve and forehand working nicely, Roddick is feeling confident ahead of Saturday's last four match with Murray.
"I enjoy playing on this surface and I enjoy playing here," he said. "And now my first rain delay is out of the way, the summer really has started!"
Murray, too, will look forward to the semi-final with optimism - with an extra day's rest good news for the Scot following his recent ankle injury, sustained at the French Open.
Britain's number one Tweeted soon after Cilic's withdrawal: "Unfortunately Cilic has had to retire as he hurt his knee last night, so tomorrow [Saturday] semis vs Roddick or Verdasco."
The 24-year-old looked to be feeling the ankle during a hard-fought three-set win over Xavier Malisse on Wednesday, but looked far more comfortable in Thursday's win over Jank Tipsarevic that booked his place in the last eight.
Murray is gunning for his second title at Queen's having won in 2009.
And he could be joined in the semi-finals by compatriot James Ward after he beat defending champion Sam Querrey before the rain fell on Friday to book his place in the quarter-finals - the first time two British players have reached the last eight at Queen's since Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski reached the last four in 2001.
