Egypt's ousted president Hosni Mubarak and his two sons are to face criminal charges over the deaths of anti-government protesters in the weeks leading up to his removal from office.
Egyptian prosecutors say Hosni Mubarak and his sons, Gamal and Alaa, have been charged with the premeditated murders of some protesters who took part in the peaceful demonstrations that broke out after January the 25th.
All three will be referred to a criminal court to face charges.
If he is convicted, Hosni Mubarak could face the death sentence.
An official inquiry found that around 850 people were killed in the protests - many from gunshots.
The former president and his sons also face charges of corruption, namely profiteering and using their positions for illicit gains, as well as squandering public funds.
